This is our second walk from Rabley Heath and is one of the shortest in the Hertfordshire Walker collection. It follows well-defined footpaths, bridleways, and quiet country lanes across some lovely countryside. The walk starts and finishes at The Robin Hood & Little John pub at Rabley Heath then passes close to The Lytton Arms which involves a 525m detour at point 6 in the walk.

Walk 255: Knebworth North-West Short Loop

5.4 miles (8.7 km) with 101m of total ascent

This is a shortened version of a longer route across rolling countryside north-west of Knebworth. The original route, Walk 199: Knebworth North-West Long Loop, is 7.6 miles (12.3km) with 153m of total ascent.

Both routes follow well-defined paths crossing open farmland and passing through woodland. The walk starts and finishes at Knebworth train station and is one of several in our collection of linear walks which have been added for those who want to access walks via public transport rather than taking a car.

Walk 249: Stevenage to Welwyn North Linear

This linear walk includes stretches of attractive woodland and wide open countryside with excellent views. As with all our station-to-station walks the route starts and finishes in urban areas. You will cross the A1(M) and the East Coast Mainline twice which means you will be aware of traffic and train noise for much of the route. However, despite that, the walk is a really enjoyable route and there are some lovely stretches that are worth the effort.

This is a lovely walk across the rolling countryside north-west of Knebworth. We have created a shorter version of this route, Walk 255: Knebworth North-West Short Loop which is 5.4 miles (8.7 km) with 101m of total ascent.

This longer route follows well-defined paths over open farmland and passes through deep woodland where you will pass ancient burial mounds from the Bronze Age and Roman period. The walk starts and finishes at Knebworth train station and has been added to our list of station-to-station linear walks for those who want to access walks via public transport rather than taking a car.

Walk 156: Old Knebworth North Long Loop

5.3 miles (8.4 km) with 119m of total ascent

This is a longer version of Walk 76: Old Knebworth N Loop (3.1 miles). The first six sections and the final three sections are the same. But this walk includes another eight sections crossing an interesting area of farmland to the north and west where the farmer has taken the trouble to erect information boards alongside the footpaths explaining what is growing or grazing in the fields and why the land is being used for each particular farming activity. It's worth doing these extra few miles just to read the signs.

Walk 77: Old Knebworth South-West Loop

6.2 miles (10 km) with 72m total ascent

A pleasant ramble through rolling countryside with wide open fields offering excellent views. A mix of woodland footpaths, tracks, quiet country lanes, and one small section through a housing estate on the northern edge of Codicote. The walk starts and finishes at The Lytton Arms in Old Knebworth.
