Free videos of some of the free Hertfordshire Walker walks

Fancy checking out our walks before putting your boots on? Well now you can, thanks to keen Hertfordshire walker, Gerry Gross.

Gerry has created a YouTube channel showcasing some of his favourite walks from our 300 free routes. It's called, simply, Hertfordshire Walker - Best Bits.

Gerry should know. He is the first person - other than David and Ellie Brewer who created Hertfordshire Walker - to walk every inch of all the 300 free walks on the site.

And Gerry is doing it all again. But this time he is recording short videos of the walk highlights. He told us about the project.

"For anyone interested in the technical side, I use a GoPro Hero 13 mounted on a gimbal, recording everything in 4K. Each walk can produce anywhere from 8GB to 30GB of video before I start editing. I am using Corel VideoStudio for the videos, and for still images I use Corel Paint Shop Pro.

"It takes anything from 1.5 to 2 hours to edit and create a video to be uploaded to YouTube,  that's assuming I get the edit right in the first place, which is not always the case.

"During editing I try to reduce each walk to roughly one minute per mile, although longer walks might get a little more time because, well... there’s simply more lovely countryside to show you.
