This walk explores the rolling countryside to the north-east of Datchworth Green. You will enjoy wide open views, shaded byways, quiet lanes, and well-defined footpaths and bridleways. There is a choice of a cafe, a pub, a restaurant, and a general store for refreshments at the end of the walk.
This is a lovely walk over the rolling countryside south-west and south of Datchworth Green. It mainly follows footpaths, bridleways and byways, but there are some short stretches along quiet lanes. There are four pubs along the way, two at the start and finish where there is also a cafe. There is one stretch where a footpath crosses a livestock field and dog owners are asked to keep their pets on a short lead.
This is a short loop from Datchworth Green which we have created in response to a number of followers of Hertfordshire Walker who asked for shorter routes. A few of the rights of way used in this walk also feature in some of our longer routes but walked in reverse, so the views will be different. This walk involves a stretch along a country lane, but it is quiet and there are opportunities to step aside in the case of traffic.
This is an excellent walk that goes through deep woodland, across open fields, has sweeping views over rolling Hertfordshire countryside, passes through several cute villages with interesting pubs, has a really good restaurant at the halfway point, and the whole walk can be done via public transport starting and finishing at Welwyn North station.
This is a pleasant walk across rolling Hertfordshire countryside along good tracks with good views. The route follows byways, bridleways and avoids roads apart from one short section of a quiet country lane at the end.
