The route between points 26 & 27
The route between points 26 & 27
This is a wonderful loop around the town of Tring. The route has a bit of everything. You will walk alongside canals, through woodland, climb to excellent view points, and follow quiet country lanes. The first quarter is flat, the second is almost all uphill, the third quarter is a mix of up and down, and the final leg is flat.

Walk 159: Wigginton South-West Loop

5.8 miles (9.3 km) with 106m of total ascent

This walk starts in the village of Wigginton then follows well-defined paths and tracks through beautiful woodland steeped in history. At one point you walk along the moat the borders Cholesbury Camp, an Iron Age hill fort. The route crosses the border into Buckinghamshire, and Cholesbury, where you can visit The Full Moon pub/restaurant in Hawridge at the halfway point before returning to Wigginton.

A narrowboat on the Grand Union Canal
A narrowboat on the Grand Union Canal
This is a lovely walk from the village of Wigginton that takes in parts of three long-distance paths, The Chiltern WayThe Ridgeway, and a section of The Grand Union Canal Walk. There is a fair amount of up and down, and you will be conscious of traffic noise from the A41, which you walk under via a tunnel at point 4 then walk over via a footbridge at point 9.
