We really enjoyed mapping and testing this walk because of the variety of countryside in such a short distance. This walk starts in the car park of the Waterford Heath Nature Reserve, then heads north-east to Chapmore End. The route then loops back over arable land with great views then returns along the banks of the River Beane before crossing the northern section of Waterford Heath.

Walk 137: Tonwell Loop

5.4 miles (8.6 km) with 117m of total ascent

This is a lovely walk that heads SW from Tonwell via Chapmore End then W along the River Rib valley to Thundridge and then back via Wadesmill over the hills following the Hertfordshire Way and passing a moated farmstead before heading back to Tonwell.

There is a pub at the start/finish point, The Robin Hood and Little John at Tonwell, a pub at Chapmore End, The Woodman, which has a cafe called The Conservatory and which involves a short detour, and a pub in Wadesmill, The Feathers Inn, at the halfway point.

Walk 57: Chapmore End Loop

4.9 miles (7.9 km) with 84m total ascent

An undulating circular walk through woodland, a nature reserve, along a pretty river, across parkland, and with great views across the Hertfordshire countryside. There is a pub, The Woodman, and a cafe, The Conservatory at the start and finish point in Chapmore End.
