Walk 294: Weston East Loop

5.3 miles (8.6 km) with 75m of total ascent

This walk covers the rolling countryside to the east of Weston. It's the third in the collection that starts and finishes in the village and the fifth that passes through. This new route explores several new paths as well as some old friends walked in reverse. You will notice birdsong along parts of this route as you leave the noise of civilisation behind.

Walk 195: Walkern North Loop

5.4 miles (8.8 km) with 84m of total ascent

This walk offers wide open views across the rolling countryside north of Walkern. The route crosses some livestock fields and, at one point, a field of horse jumps. There are signs asking dog owners to keep their pets on leads. The route also crosses a number of arable fields.

The North Hertfordshire Long Loop

A 37-mile loop involving seven circular routes

We have just finished (April 2022) the final link in a series of seven circular walks that form a 37-mile loop across the north-east of the county. It starts in Graveley then heads NE to Royston via Therfield before circling back heading SW to the starting point. If you would rather break it into two linear walks, the northerly section is 15 miles and the southerly section is 17 miles.

Walk 168: Baldock South-East Loop

8.7 miles (14 km) with 133m of total ascent

Weston Hills information board

This walk includes parts of a shorter walk on this site, Walk 125: Weston NE Loop, with the added advantage of starting and finishing at the Weston Hills nature reserve where there is a small car park off Chalk Hills (location - https://w3w.co/tiger.hurray.dose). We have embedded an information brochure at the bottom of these directions showing all the paths in the reserve.

Walk 125: Weston North-East Loop

7.2 miles (11.6 km) with 137m of total ascent

A byway on Walk 125: Weston NE Loop

This is an excellent walk over the undulating countryside of north Hertfordshire. It follows well-defined byways and footpaths offering open views on all sides. You pass through the graveyard of the Grade 1 listed Holy Trinity Church, Weston, where you might be able to spot the grave of Jack O'Legs, who is said to have robbed from the rich to give to the poor. We have embedded a document about the history of Weston at the foot of the walk directions.
