Footpath between points 18 & 19
This walk starts at the car park on Nomansland Common then heads SE along the edge of Heartwood Forest before looping back through Symondshyde Great Wood. It includes several rights-of-way that are new to our Hertfordshire Walker collection of walks as well as revisiting some old favourites.

Walk 258: Wheathampstead South-East Loop

7.7 miles (12.3 km) with 114m of total ascent

Bluebells along Devil's Dyke between points 30 & 31
This is a lovely varied route that includes riverside and woodland walking as well as stretches across open rolling countryside. It involves several rights of way which are included in other walks in our collection but links them in a new loop which passes along footpath and bridleways not visited before. There is a small amount of lane walking.

Walk 246: Lemsford West Long Loop

4.9 miles (7.9 km) with 98m of total ascent

Hatfield footpath 59 crossing the River Lea at point 20
This is a lovely walk over rolling countryside. You will cross the River Lea four times, pass a Grade II listed chimney that is said to have been part of a house where John Bunyan lived, and you will cross a golf course with excellent views of the Brocket Hall estate from a Grade II* listed bridge.

The walk starts in the village of Lemsford then heads west to Coleman Green before looping back via Cromer Hyde. There are alternative starting points at pubs at point 10 and point 18 in the directions.

Walk 54: Symondshyde Loop

5.6 miles (9 km) with 104m total ascent

One of the old byways along the route
This walk follows old deep and shaded byways which weave their way through fields and woodland. We rerouted it in May 2021 because parking at the old start point was discouraged. The walk used to be a 3.5 mile loop from Coleman Green. Now it’s a 5.9 mile loop from the car park on Nomansland Common south of Wheathampstead. We think the new route is a much better walk.

There is one pub along the way, the John Bunyan at Coleman Green, and another, the Elephant & Castle at Amwell, which is 900m from the start/finish point (location - https://w3w.co/answer.shock.season). You pass the '3 Brewers' brewery along the way.
